Tobi Reports: PAWS rescues abandoned dog

His owner had left him in his cage for several weeks without food or water.  His neighbors could not contact his owner so they called the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).  The rescuers from PAWS, together with Strike Animal Welfare Society (SAWS) in Cavite, had to break the lock of the house gate to get to him.  Because of his emaciated appearance, he was nicknamed Tom-Tom, short for "gutom na gutom".

Tom-Tom's owner, Dionela Degomon, filed charges against the rescuers for breaking and entering into her property but the case was dismissed by the Cavite Prosecutor's Office.

PAWS and SAWS filed a case against Degomon for violating the Animal Welfare Act and are currently awaiting trial.
